What is Remote Rebellion?
Remote Rebellion is dedicated to empowering individuals to create a life of freedom and flexibility by landing remote jobs that reflect their values.
Our goal is to help people build fulfilling careers while contributing to a world with more joy and fewer regrets.
The idea for Remote Rebellion came from Michelle’s frustration with the post-pandemic trend of companies requiring employees to return to the office.
With over nine years of experience as a recruiter and headhunter, Michelle has worked with leading consultancies and digital agencies across Europe, the USA, Singapore, and Australia.
Her expertise lies in remote-first companies, giving her a deep understanding of what top employers look for in remote candidates.
Her passion is to guide others toward meaningful remote jobs that align with their goals and lifestyles.
About Michelle
I’ve always been drawn to travel and adventure, spending years exploring the world after university to avoid diving into what society calls “the real world.”
However, in 2014, the pressure to settle down and get a “serious job” led me to a career in recruitment in London.
For a time, I followed the expected path—working 9-to-5, saving for a house, and settling into city life.
It wasn’t until the pandemic in 2020 forced me to work remotely that I realized how unfulfilled I was.
Alone and without the usual distractions, I started to reflect on what brought me true happiness. My mind always drifted back to the ocean—surfing, diving, and the freedom of being by the sea.
So, I booked a flight to Bali and embraced the newfound flexibility of remote work.
My lifestyle completely changed, as I swapped commutes for surfing, city life for beaches, and busy office days for time spent doing what I love.
In 2021, when my employer called me back to the office, I made a bold decision to quit and stay in Bali.
Without savings or a financial safety net, I struggled to find a fully remote job despite my years of recruitment experience.
That struggle made me realize how difficult it can be for others without the same knowledge.
Determined to help, I transformed my challenges into actionable insights and launched Remote Rebellion—a platform that helps others navigate the remote job search, land their dream roles, and create a life they truly love.
